## Description

The melody in the wind (mélodie dans le vent) carries a complex message, shaped by the context in which it is blown, which can be sometimes joyful, sometimes devastating.

In Africa, as in many parts of the world, horns have been used since the dawn of time.
Because of their powerful sound and strong visual presence, these instruments are most often associated with hunting as well as with the military context where, in addition to their practical function, horns in times of war can play a role in impressing or even frightening and demoralising the enemy by the power and savagery of their sounds.
Equally frequent is their use in the civilian world to emit long-range communication signals (alerts, gatherings, various warnings, etc.) or during collective demonstrations of power, solemnity or joy: rituals, religious celebrations, ceremonial events, parades, processions, wedding announcements...
