## Description

I photographed this in Italy in the Venice Canals  just  a week or two prior to November 12, 2019, when Venice suffered its worst flooding since 1966. The tide rose and submerged over 80% of the city. Italian ground floor homes were devastated. Many restaurants and their kitchens destroyed.  Ancient monuments were irreparably damaged. Interestingly this is just prior to the pandemic. I had never been to Italy before and I had a sense of urgency to go. How right my instincts were on - I went just in time.  I was also set to a few months later but the pandemic put an end to that.  There may be a chance of an exhibit there late 2022 . I love Italy and grew up with some of  it's images, language, music, culture as part of my childhood- For this I am blessed. Same with France too. I colored this piece as I wanted to capture Venice in away that was distinct. 

Arriving in Venice one is struck with the beauty of the canals- it is a fairytale to look upon - so I wanted to capture and inspire that unique feeling - that magical realism that this great city exists in our lifetime as it has for centuries. History written in it's walls, it's water, the shapes of its transport. This photographic jpeg is a unique 1/1 and  this comes with a large archival quality (Museum quality) large formate print(2/5) .
