## Description

Southeast Asia's most famous stylist, Hilde Marie Johansen, first daubed the model’s body with a natural sponge soaked with white body paint. Then she dripped wet paint across the model as she twisted and turned to control the direction of flow. Her symbolic hair was crafted from cinnamon sticks and the neckpiece was created from dried gourds tied on a rope, which were acquired at Bangkok’s humongous Chatuchak Weekend Market. The skirt was made by tattering a piece of burlap that had been soaked in coffee for a more authentic color then dried in the sun overnight.

In post-production, a paint-dripped, grungy plaster wall, which I photographed in India, was composited into the image to create a matching background.

Model: The inimitable Laurine Akinyi from Kenya

From my Tribal Wild Collection featuring body-painted, untamed models photographed in my Bangkok studio.
