## Description

Like natural relics of long ago, petrified Red Cedars and Douglas Fur are on full display around Rattlesnake lake's dry season. As the water recedes, a graveyard resurfaces of what was once an ancient old-growth forest within the lake's bed. I named this photo "Lovely Lamented" because it is what I often feel when looking at this extraordinary landscape. Although striking to look at, seeing these "cut-down" ornate trees and roots is a sobering reminder of our carelessness with one of our most precious resources.
