## Description

“In “Rompeolas” I explore the formidable clash between the enduring waves of digital art and the steadfast  
walls of traditional art systems. This piece is conceived as a visual metaphor, depicting not only the  
struggle for recognition within the confines of the established art world but also mirroring the global  
challenge posed by rising sea levels—a poignant reminder of our ongoing environmental crisis.” - IX Shells  
The artwork illustrates the relentless waves, symbolic of new media artists, crashing against the unyielding  
barriers of conventional art structures. Each surge, while met with resistance, gradually wears away at the  
old guard, depicting a slow but inevitable permeation and transformation of tradition. This process reflects  
a broader narrative of change and adaptation, urging a critical reevaluation of our cultural engagements  
and environmental responsibilities.  
Set against the backdrop of Venice, a city emblematic of beauty and decay, the piece embodies the  
dualities of destruction and creation, loss and renewal. As the waves break through, they carry with them  
the potential for a new paradigm, one where art transcends previous limitations and gestures towards a  
more inclusive and sustainable future.  
Through “Resurgence Through Resistance,” I invite viewers to contemplate the dynamic interplay of art and  
environment, challenging them to consider how barriers can be both destructive and necessary for growth.  
It is a call to recognize the power of art as a catalyst for societal reflection and transformative action.
