## Description

I didn’t find happiness in travel
or selling things
or the accumulation of applause
from an audience responding to
a wooden sign
that compelled their faultless hands
to make noise into a device
that would rebroadcast the offering
when it was ordered to

I did find happiness in the dwindling sanity
of my neighbour
knowing that he woke every morning
wondering if the dandelions growing in our yard
would eventually grow in his

and if the yellow acne scars
that woke every morning with the sun

would cause him not to
