## About

XCOPY is a pseudonymous digital artist based in London. Most works are animated loops of distorted, glitching figures flashing on dark grounds. Mortality and collapse recur, often with a satirical eye on crypto culture.

XCOPY has shared art online since 2010, starting on Tumblr, whose file size caps influenced the brief, low-color GIFs. Crypto came in 2017 and the first NFTs in 2018, when *DE$CENT* went to Artnome's Jason Bailey and many early pieces were minted on SuperRare. One of those, [*Right-click and Save As guy*](https://www.gondi.xyz/collections/superrare-v1/1154.md) (2018), uses the doubter's line as its description: "Why would I buy it when I can right click and save as?" It has been put up on public screens and murals, Times Square and Melbourne among them. Nifty Gateway editions include [*DISRUPTOR*](https://www.gondi.xyz/collections/xcopy-editions-2118.md) (2020), [*TRAITORS*](https://www.gondi.xyz/collections/xcopy-editions-8a93.md) (2021) and [*MAX PAIN AND FRENS*](https://www.gondi.xyz/collections/max-pain-and-frens-by-xcopy-d116.md) (2022). [*GRIFTERS*](https://www.gondi.xyz/collections/grifters-by-xcopy.md) (2021) on Async Art was the first generative series, 666 works built from layered traits.

On August 1, 2022, XCOPY released the body of work into the public domain under CC0. Remixes by other artists followed. Later releases include [*RΞMNANTS*](https://www.gondi.xyz/collections/xcopy-remnants.md) for SuperRare's RarePass (2023), [*DAMAGE CONTROL*](https://www.gondi.xyz/collections/damage-control-xcopy.md) on Manifold (2023 to 2024), *COPE SALADA* on Shape (2024), the generative [*ICXN*](https://www.gondi.xyz/collections/icxn-by-xcopy.md) on Art Blocks Engine (2024) and [*FIELDS*](https://www.gondi.xyz/collections/xcopy-fields.md), a run of 1/1 onchain pieces that opened in 2026.

Sotheby's has sold XCOPY works in New York (2022) and online (2024). The Museum of Crypto Art holds [*Cracked*](https://www.gondi.xyz/collections/cracked-13.md) (2018) in its Genesis Collection. Fortune named XCOPY to its NFTy 50 in 2021, and XCOPY won Best NFT Artist at the 2022 NFT Awards. In December 2025 the New York gallery Nguyen Wahed showed XCOPY's installation *COIN LAUNDRY* in the first Zero 10 section of Art Basel Miami Beach. That month the solo show *Tech Won't Save Us* opened at Offline Gallery in New York.
